Anyone can build a successful business online. It's not rocket science. You don't have to be a genius. You don't have to have a college degree or a street named after you to make a go of it. Internet marketing is a profession literally anyone can do if they want to. It's wide open, limited only by your imagination.
So then why do 99% of those who start an Internet business fail? Most people come on the Internet looking for the secret to making money online. Do you want the truth? The truth is, there is no secret. There isn't some magic formula to make it happen. There is no business in a box that's going to start raking in the dough while you sleep. I know you've heard there is, but really there isn't.
Only about 1% of those who come online to make their fortune actually succeed. Why is that? What secret do they know? That 1% who do succeed realize that they must treat their business like a business and not a hobby. They don't come on the scene with pie in the sky ideals. They understand that building an online business is very much a kin to building a brick and mortar business off-line.
When building an off-line business, one might purchase a plot of ground, build a strong foundation for their building, then begin to build that business brick by brick until it was completed. Every off-line business builder knows that it doesn't end there. If you build it they will come may work for Kevin Costner - it doesn't work in business. Even in the off-line world you have to learn the ropes. You must educate yourself about every aspect of the business before you can expect to be able to run it successfully. You would expect to have to put in long hours for many months or even years before you turn a profit.
Why should it be any different online than off-line? If you want to build a successful business you must go into it with the same attitude. Most people believe when they start an online business that is going to be easy, simple. They want instant income gratification. The truth is it's hard work just like any other business. First you must educate yourself. The rules to working online are completely different. It's a whole new ballgame.
You'll need a well thought out and designed business blog site. You will need to build a large targeted responsive permission based e-mail list, you'll need to set autoresponders in place, create opt in pages to collect email names, giveaway bribes for those opt ins, sales pages and a hearty marketing plan. You have to drive traffic to your website and have products to sell. Then there's building your brand, social media, Ad Words, ccp, ppc and so much more! That's just the tip of the iceberg.
You see, building an Internet business is building a real business. It's not something you can do every once in a while and make it happen. Building an online business is serious business. It takes commitment, time, energy and persistence. The first couple of years you have to give it all you've got. You have to work hard in the immediate future so that you won't have to work as hard in the future.
Is it worth it? You bet it is! It can be the most gratifying enjoyable and exciting work you will ever do. The time freedom you have from being your own boss online and working from home is incredible.
You have the rare opportunity to work your job around your life instead of your life around your job. You will have much more play time, family time and vacation time.
The opportunity to create an income you've only dreamed of is truly available to you on the Internet, if you are willing to build it with long-term in mind.
